Open Letter to Governments

The English International Association of Lund is an NGO (non-government organisation) based in Lund. We have a network of international members throughout the world.

Our major aims and objectives are to promote the basic human rights to peace, development, non-discrimination, equal treatment and equality between all human beings, including migrants and host nationals. To achieve our goals, we actively support and lobby for the implementation of all human rights treaties and for the ratification of those treaties not yet ratified.

We therefore strongly urge all governments to ratify and implement all existing human rights treaties. We would like to especially call their attention to the resolution adopted by the General Assembly calling upon governments to ratify the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families that was adopted on the 18th of December, 1990.
(See Gen. Assembly resolution 45/158).

We strongly support that Resolution and the provisions within the treaty, and sincerely hope that governments ratify and implement this and any remaining human rights treaties that need to be ratified.
